ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE:
Sliding windows

I thought that pockets doors were the only doors that would be in my dream house but after seeing this pretty cabin home, I am thinking a few of the rooms will have sliding windows - as in sliding out and opening to the world. (ok, so not really to the world but you get what I am saying) Since this particular home was built in the middle of nature, the open windows act as doors and extend the living space to be literal outdoor living and it works! I love how open the small space feels and just the look of the doors and windows. Oh the joys of dreaming! And I also spotted a nice little small space solution in the small bedroom with a bookshelf-style headboard. Yes! Check out more of my dream house right here.

ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
Black & White

Yes, this gorgeous home of William-Sonoma Home's VP of Design is definitely, well, my entire dream house file. I am *loving* the black and white contrast against the warm wood floors. Simple yet elegant and refined - yes! There are tons of small space ideas in here from using the walls to double duty furniture and decor items to mirrored furniture to using vertical accents to create scale. See more of this pretty home right here.

DESIGN INSPIRATION:
Row Houses

Boston

San Francisco

Soho

I have always wanted to live in a row house and can easily say my love of small spaces could be inspired by them. I grew up in MD and often visited DC and Georgetown and my love of these pretty vertical buildings was sealed early on. The architecture, lines and texture of the facades are gorgeous and their vertical size is super appealing. I can see why I've always felt comfy in big vertical cities like New York and San Francisco. Small space ideas are aplenty inside these gems - now I just gotta get myself one! Have a great weekend and enjoy the holiday!

Arched Doorways

Wowza - do I love this gorgeous room and the arched (and huge) doors that open to fabulous patio! The simple lines of an arched doorway is a stunning addition to any space. I love how wide these doors are too. Yea, this is going in my DREAM HOUSE FILE today!

ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
Window Seat

I have been bookmarking interior designer sites and - oh la la - do they offer amazing color + texture + design inspiration at a moment's notice. I was looking through some of the links and was reunited with Summer Thornton Design. Aside from the amazing citrus colors lingering in all of the photos, this fabulous window seat caught my eye! What a cool way to use this sometimes question mark alcove space? Not only is this a functional small space option but it looks amazing! This is going in my DREAM HOUSE FILE.

Enjoy!

ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
Plantation Shutters

I snapped this picture a few weeks ago of a restaurant in Santa Monica. Loving the plantation style shutters and wonder how they would look with my modern barnhouse that I am slowly creating? I also love the pretty flowers too!

Enjoy!

ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
White Subway Tile

Dreaming of white subway tile in my modern barnhouse kitchen. This look is timeless, clean and elegant while simply feeling simple. While some people feel the all white kitchen to be trendy, I think it's classic. This kitchen's white tile is going right into my DREAM HOUSE FILE.

A Glass Wall

One day, in my modern farm house, I'd like to have full wall of glass windows.

ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
The Look Of Small Space Living

I just returned from a fun trip to Washington, DC. I love this time of year on the east coast, with the leaves turning colors, fireplace burning smells and colorful tones and textures. I found this Georgetown rowhouse a few months ago (yikes can't find my credit! for the gorgeous house) and wanted to share it with you. It epitomizes small space living at it's finest! Wonderful style, great use of space, full of function and endlessly comfortable.

Enjoy!

ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
Chalkboard Wall

I have seen the chalkboard accent wall aesthetic many times in home design and really love it but couldn't quite figure out a way to incorporate it into my own small space - until now. I spotted this gorgeous office space of the editor of Canadian House & Home (via Desire To Inspire) and absolutely fell in love! It feels incredibly comfortable. The birch tree wall paper contrasting with the black of the chalkboard wall creates a modern yet rustic tone. Mixed with the shag white rug, I can sleep - live - dream in this room! (Now I only have to convince Boy for yet another small space makeover. Hmmm - more to come on that one!)

Enjoy!

ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
Small Barn-Style House

I spotted this adorable barn-style house in San Diego last weekend and was immediately captured by its charm and size. I would love to own a home like this and create a modern-meets-rustic feel inside. Hmmm...one day.

Enjoy!

ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
Wood Slated Walls

Yes, I will be adding this photo of a gorgeous horizontal wood paneled wall / headboard / stunning accent to my "design I want in my dream house" file! (via Desire To Inspire)
