ADDITION TO MY DREAM HOUSE FILE:
White Subway Tile

Dreaming of white subway tile in my modern barnhouse kitchen. This look is timeless, clean and elegant while simply feeling simple. While some people feel the all white kitchen to be trendy, I think it's classic. This kitchen's white tile is going right into my DREAM HOUSE FILE.

Have you started your
DREAM HOUSE FILE? Check out this post for organizing your magazine and catalogue tearsheets into an Inspiration Notebook. And keep your digital notebook organized too, using labeled folders inside a main folder on your desk top. Mine is called LOVING LIVING SMALL and inside I have many folders simply labeled Kitchen, Coffee Tables, Accessories, Vintage Finds. Anything that inspires me when I am online, I snap a pic and file it away.

[For MAC users, use the shift + command + 4 to create a camera aperture and snap away. Rename the photo with the website url of where you got the pic.]

I'm excited to start reading your blog. I live in a relatively small house and have to find creative ways to store and decorate. How fun! Marcy Lytle

I'm glad to find this blog too. Since I've moved to a small apartment from a big house I don't seem to leave it too often, definitely not as much as I used to.

Thanks for the comments and checking out LLS! Hope to see you all back here!

koala - I'd love to hear more about your comment! In particular how living small feels compared to living in a bigger space. Click on the email me button and let me know!

Thanks all! Rebecca :)

I also have a dream house file. I have a plastic filo-folder labelled with each room in the house, and then as I tear magazine pages out- I file them under that room. ie. furniture, bedroom, kidsroom, living etc.

I clicked on this blog as a blog of note and was interested to read about your ideas for living in small properties. However, seeing the pictures I immediately realised that your blog does not define 'small' in the way we do in the UK. This kitchen on its own is half the size of some flats (a.k.a. apartments in American) that I have lived in. A real challenge for you would be come to the UK and try to fit out our small houses and apartments.

rooksmoor - yes, this is a pretty big kitchen! This post is inspired by the white subway tile rather then the actual size of the kitchen.

White kitchen is marvellous. Small space is easier to manage.

Love you blog! I have a technical question...for MAC's when you do the command you mention, where does the photo go? I can't figure out what happened to it. Thanks!

LOVING/LIVING/SMALL said... 11/19/2008

Kim - when you do this command, the picture lands right on your desktop. It's actually a PNG file, which can easily rename it as a JPG. Good luck!

We have a small house and three children, so your blog is great. LOVED the white kitchen. I also have a book of dreams, I think everyone should have one.

i like the idea of a all-white kitchen. just to avoid the hospital-feeling, i recomend to use diffrent white-shades. it looks really good and it's gonna give warmer feeling.
otherwise, love the blog! :)

That kitchen slays me. It's perfection. Thanks so much for sharing! We'd love if you wouldn't mind changing your blogroll over from TYH to Young House Love (www.younghouselove.com) since we moved! You can read all the dirty details about the switch (and how it came about) right here: http://www.younghouselove.com/2009/07/the-end-of-this-young-house/

Thanks so much for your help!
