loving. living. small. friends, this is my favorite and most affordable design accent for my small space and hope you consider and enjoy it too. How sweet is this bunch of Trader Joe's $1.50 daffodils? When I picked up the lil bunch on Sunday, they were barely open. But a day and a half later, they look gorgeous. For the cost of a cup of coffee, I made a huge design impact in my small space. And, better yet, the birght pop of color makes me smile smile smile every time I walk on by - yes!

One of the best things about writing a personal blog is e-flipping through old posts for inspiration - yes! I was doing just that over the weekend and rediscovered this post I did about small space savers - hanging bedside lamps. I do feel that hanging *anything* in small space design adds style and is functional for utilizing your square footage wisely. Consider this idea in your bedroom, a prime room that can work the hanging bedside table and/or light fixture. In this case, symmetry in regards to placing your accents on both sides of the bed counts and adds balance and harmony.

I absolutely love wallpaper touches and think they add such style and design love in a small space. Best use - wallpapering the back of a bookcase or a wall of shelves. Great dimension that makes a space feel bigger, wallpapering a little bit of your small space is a best small space accent. I spotted this pretty look at the Viceroy in Palm Springs and wanted to share it with you. Another great look, Viv of Ish and Chi's home - love her kitchen cabinets. And this look is affordable and a great small space d.i.y. - fun!

best small space accent carpet tiles by FLOR

ok small space dwellers, this is a goodie. Since space is spare and custom anything is expensive, I am definitely loving these carpet tiles from FLOR and think they are definitely a best small space accent. how cool are these? You can pick up as many as you need to fit right into whatever size space needs a little floor covering. 

When I moved into my new small space, the lovely people at FLOR shared these Shiny Happy striped tiles (love the name!) to help me make my bedroom work. I. love. them. I was able to create the size that I needed in my space and work around the way the room was layed out - which is exactly what I needed. favorite small space accent in my home | the penny tile mirror table

a lot of you lovelies have emailed me or commented on the penny tile mirrored table in these pics and I wanted to tell you more about it. it is absolutely my fave piece (seriously, this table makes me happy - oh the power of design).  I waited almost a year to go for it and was able to get it wholesale through a designer friend (the only way because this table ain't cheap).  It's called the Metropolitan 1000 Faces Table. best small space accent: chandeliers | lighting

it's been a little while since I've posted one of my fave small space accents and I was super inspired this past weekend during my Sonoma adventure so here we go. Last weekend we stopped into Hotel El Dorado (a neat hotel in Sonoma's main square and across from the delish Girl and the Fig) for some soft-serve with mint sugar + chocolate chocolate cookie (um, yea, this was insane) I was loving all of the simple yet thoughtful modern decor, especially the lighting. The wire + stretch bamboo woven chandeliers were just too cool and looked awesome juxtaposed with the white palette. Lighting is one of the best ways to express style and design in any space - big or small. So use a chandelier or lighting design that makes you feel good and adds style to your home.

time for another best small space accent (really, there are tons of them!) and this one is all about acrylic! Nope, not the cheesy 80s style, these acrylic furniture and decor items are perfect for all small space dwellers. Biggest reason? The clear pieces allows the eye to keep moving and, therefore, the space feels bigger even though there it's filled with items. I love an acrylic console table and nesting tables but I hadn't seen an acrylic ridling rack or rolling side table until I put this post together - very cool! And these pieces have a timeless quality, keep updating with modern and stylish accents.

BEST SMALL SPACE ACCENT: floor cushions (inspired by Missoni)

Small spaces don't often allow for a lot of furniture for sitting and folding chairs aren't the most comfy. One of my favorite small space solutions is using floor cushions for guests to hang out on. I am loving these Missoni floor cushions, especially the different forms they come in - flat round, bean bag and drum pouf. While these Missoni ones are pricey, they do offer some good design inspiration and I see a little DIY in my future.

Some of the best and most transitional accents are throw pillows. These accents can add tons of color and texture to your space while providing comfort as well. Since you can easily buy a new cover when your color mood changes, evolving your small space look is simple and affordable. BEST SMALL SPACE ACCENT: Tulip Tables

I am loving this week's Best Small Space Accents - the tulip table. These round tables with tulip-style bases feel open and light since the bases are slim and you can see all the way through them, kind of like floating furniture. Also the round surface and round base add balance and harmony to a small space. While I personally am coveting this gorgeous Saarinen table, Ikea makes a simple version for just over $100.

I am starting a new series called Best Small Space Accent, focusing on furniture and decor that work in small spaces. I'll showcase items and tips that expand a space, provide form + function, encourage thoughtful use of small space footprints and are affordable.

The first Best Small Space Accent is flowers. Super affordable and available in an amazing selection of colors, flowers add great texture and color accents for your small space. Also, use flowers to add hints of balance in your home. I love this photo of an elegant dining space in a cool, neutral palette. What makes the a big impact is the small bunch of pink flowers on the mantle. Something as simple and as easy on the wallet as flowers can add a lot to your small space.
